We filmed Gill and Mark as they met
again for a second time, and followed their progress as they
worked out if they could pick up the pieces and re-kindle their
relationship.
Filming required as
little intrusion as possible, and certainly no re-takes!
It's also important that you get on with people you're filming -
as it is a sensitive and personal subject matter.
Making an
objective film on social issues requires an awful lot of hours on
camera, in the hope that the story can be told in the finished
documentary. Often the content over-rides the technical
considerations such as poor light or excessive background noise.
Thirty years experience in making these kind of films enables you
to make quick assessments of circumstances, and to provide a
valued judgement for the director to make the film.
Oh, and as a footnote - you'll be
pleased to hear Gill and Mark got married in 2005, as a result of
the programme!
